Chris Dobey managed to qualify for the second round of the
German Darts Championship on Friday night at the expense of Lee Evans. 'Hollywood' saw his opponent miss three match darts before he struck himself with a 70 finish for a 6-5 win.
As a result of this victory, Dobey secured a spot in the top-32 of the Euro Tour Order of Merit. This virtually qualifies him for the
European Championship later this month.
That was at the expense of former world champion
Steve Beaton, who himself did not qualify for the final Euro Tour tournament in Hildesheim. Dobey is immediately firmly in the saddle in terms of qualification for the European Championship. Alan Soutar is the first competitor and he needs to reach at least the semifinals at the German Darts Championship to pass Dobey.
