Clayton completes Quarter-Final line-up at Players Championship Finals with thrilling Humphries win

Jonny Clayton is the last player through to the Quarter-Finals of the Players Championship Finals after seeing off Luke Humphries in a deciding leg thriller.
Clayton survived two match darts from Humphries before closing it out in a decider after 'Cool Hand Luke' had come from 8-4 down and went 9-8 up.
He missed one match dart on double 20 in the 18th leg before Clayton sent it to a decider. Humphries had a small lead to begin the decider however went off the boil and sent the initiative the way of Clayton.
However, Humphries still missed a dart at double 20 with Clayton claiming it on double five to diminish Humphries hopes. He will now face Vincent van der Voort tomorrow afternoon.

- obviously littler has the potential to surpass everybody simply because nobody has been this good at this age before, but people who think he would be any kind of favourite right now against prime taylor in a big final have short memories. it's obvious that prime taylor wouldn't win as many world titles if he was playing today, but there's also good reason to believe he'd be winning more than anybody else. hell, his statistical profile still stands alone in darts history and he might statistically be even better if he was playing today with better equipment, larger beds, more competition therefore more motivation, etc.colt24-03-2025
