Brendan Dolan has dumped out the World Number One, Gerwyn Price in a stunning display from 'The History Maker' who is into the Quarter-Finals of the
Players Championship Finals on Sunday with a 10-8 win.
Price's struggles on the outer ring were the issue with 27 missed darts at doubles from the Welshman who will now head to the Alexandra Palace to defend his World title.
While for Dolan, he reaches the latter stages for the first time in his career and will face Jose de Sousa tomorrow.
After being set at 5-3, Dolan continued to build and at the interval, Price was sat at 4/29 and Dolan was at 6-4 with a 74 checkout.
This continued with Price missing more doubles and Dolan continuing to add legs when Price could have made it parity. A perfect 180 set up saw him one away hitting a 65 checkout at 9-7.
He didn't give Price a second opportunity pinning double 20 on his throw after a 180 to claim the win.
It is a first TV ranking Quarter-Final in almost three years for Dolan but it is the first time in seven years that
Vincent van der Voort has reached this point in this tournament.
He continued his charge by seeing off Danny Noppert 10-7 in his first last eight appearance since 2014.
It was another superb display from 'The Dutch Destroyer' who averaged 98.5 and hit four 180's and 52% on the doubles.
