The first semi-final is
confirmed at the
German Darts Championship with
Jonny Clayton set to face off
against
Mervyn King later on this evening.
King began the evening
session with a 6-2 win over James Wade as his phenomenal weekend continued.
This comes after victory over Michael van Gerwen in the afternoon session and
the Bradwell ace seems to be on a mission this weekend.
Stats wise, he averaged
99.7 with 55% on the doubles. He took an early lead in the tie at 2-1 up motoring
out of the blocks and despite Wade levelling the game from there, he regained
the upper hand and broke with a 100 checkout to make it 4-2.
Three consecutive legs saw
him consolidate that lead and go 5-2 up. He completed the feat with a 62 checkout
with Wade back on 160 to keep himself in proceedings.
Clayton and Chisnall
followed that up and served up an epic in Hildesheim. Both players played their
part with it going all the way to a decider with ‘The Ferret’ just edging proceedings.
He averaged 103 with three
180’s and a high checkout of 156 with a checkout percentage of 46%. Chisnall in
defeat was almost flawless on the doubles showing the fine margins with two ton
plus checkouts and 5/6 on the doubles.
In the end with Chisnall
sat on 76 himself for the match after getting himself down from 176, the Welshman
struck with an 80 checkout to put the tie to bed and move through. Can he win a
second European Tour title?
