Jonny Clayton will face
James Wade in his third weekly final of this year's
Premier League Darts campaign after seeing off Peter Wright in an epic in Birmingham.
Clayton averaged 103 and hit 11 140's which proved the difference in a 6-4 win as he defied a 107.7 average from Wright en route to victory and after winning Night Two in Liverpool, he will have Birmingham in his sights.
The high quality was there from the outset as Wright took the opening leg against Clayton with an 81 checkout for an 11-darter. Wright's missed doubles though allowed Clayton to level up after 'Snakebite' had doubled his lead with a break.
Wright continued to stretch ahead with a 68 checkout to lead 4-3 before Clayton made it 4-4 but it was a pivotal break that sent Clayton towards the finishing line as he hit 72 to go 5-4 up before claiming the win.
While next up will be James Wade who backed up his win over Michael van Gerwen by seeing off last week's winner Joe Cullen and bringing his run to an end in a 6-2 victory.
Wade will have a first weekly title in his sights and it was a break to go 4-2 up that proved pivotal as he made it three legs in a row to then go one away at 5-2 before sealing it after Cullen initially made it 2-2.
