Michael van Gerwen had a disappointing evening in Birmingham on Thursday during the eighth week of the Premier League Darts. The Green Machine lost his first match 6-2 to James Wade.

Van Gerwen was unhappy with the conditions in the venue afterwards. "Besides the fact that I didn't start sharp, it was very cold in the hall and the draft was obviously bothering me. Wade said it to me before the match and also after the match. I can't get into my own rhythm, it is even more annoying. The five-time Premier League champion refused to blame the circumstances for his disappointing performance.
