Gerwyn Price recently spoke about the possibility of a boxing match against Jake Paul. The former rugby player claimed he could knock out the American with a single punch.
Paul, who convincingly defeated Mike Tyson by unanimous decision in November, responded to Price’s challenge on Instagram. “He’s seen it and messaged me. ‘Come to Greece man just name a Price’.” Price himself revealed in an interview with talkSPORT.
The Welshman has not yet responded to the proposal and laughingly admitted that he might be a little nervous. “I was a bit scared. No, I need to get some training in," he joked.
Price has recently taken to YouTube, as has fellow darter Stephen Bunting. It was even suggested that a boxing match against Paul might be possible once he reaches 100,000 subscribers. He didn't exactly take the idea seriously, however, and responded confidently, "That’s easy. I look forward to that. He’s a YouTuber; he’s not a fighter, is he? I’ve got 999,000 followers to go."
According to Price, the fight would not last long: "I think it would just be one punch, and it would be all over. Out cold; it would be a waste of money for people to tune in.”
The possibility of challenging Paul in Wales was also discussed, with Principality Stadium in Cardiff as a possible venue. Price was confident of his chances on home soil: "He’ll never beat me in Wales. Nobody beats me in Wales. He’d probably beat Canelo (if they fought in Mexico), but he’s not beating me, no.”
