Rob Cross pulled off an insane shock in 2018 by immediately taking the world title on his debut at the World Darts Championship by beating darts legend Phil Taylor in the final.
What was most special about the world title was that Cross also only made his entrance onto the Pro Tour circuit in the season leading up to the World Darts Championship. In an interview with neueonlinecasinos, 'Voltage' predicts no one will ever repeat that feat.
“If anyone came in and did that, especially with the standard now. Let's not forget, alright, I did what I did, nobody has really ever seen it, but do I think it’s going to be done again? No. I think it’d be very hard now.
"If we look at the rules now, I sort of couldn’t have even got my Tour card on the Challenge Tour because I never went to Q-school. I paid my money late to go and play the Challenge Tour. Now the rule is that if you don’t play Q-school, you can’t play Challenge Tour.
"So you have no right to even get a card now so I was lucky at the time. I was a bit fortunate in that way with the rules and regulations. But can I see anyone emulating it? No. It’s different now.”
