Sedlacek needed to win or not let Cross get four legs in the tie; but despite 'Evil Charlie' seemingly coasting to victory at 4-0 up, he started to falter. Cross found a gear hitting multiple 180's in requisite legs to go one away from seemingly an unthinkable comeback.
He did so after breaking Sedlacek, he hit a 32 checkout to put it into a decider; which meant he claimed the group in the process. From there he broke throw again to complete it with a win defeating the Czech ace 5-4.
This came after a night of ups and downs for the current World Matchplay and former World Champion; despite claiming wins in all three games.
He only averaged 79 in his opener in seeing off William Borland and somehow got past Dimitri van den Bergh despite averaging ten points lower and surviving a match dart.
For Van den Bergh, his strong night was ended by William Borland who punished 3/13 on the doubles with a 103.8 average, four 180's and 5/7 on the doubles; as he put a poor start to the night behind him in a consolation 5-3 victory.
Every evening, the four players will each face off; with each match being the best of nine legs. This group stage lasts 32 days with that amount of players set to reach the next round to play it out from there to crown a winner.
All players have webcams set up in their houses and say their scores out loud; to make sure that they can be inputted correctly without any cheating taking place.
With each night’s action commencing at 1930 BST, darts commentator Dan Dawson will be on hand to talk through proceedings; which will also include live score graphics on screen.
All PDC Home Tour action will be broadcast live on PDCTV for free to all registered PDCTV users; regardless of whether you have a paid or free membership.
