Joe Cullen is through to a Quarter-Final tie against Dimitri van den Bergh after breezing past Damon Heta at the New Zealand Darts Masters and he believes that the World Matchplay was still playing on the mind of 'The Heat'.
"When the draw came out Damon (Heta) was probably the toughest draw I could have got so I knew I had to be on my game early doors. I think maybe Blackpool was in the back of Damon's mind as he was 'favourite' to get through but it's tough playing Damon, he's a cracking lad as well. It's always easier to play someone you don't like," said Cullen to Online Darts.
"I knew that I was on top, I think the `120 was a big shot and a 67 last dart, they are killers. I've had them done to me 100's of times so I know how much they're a body blow especially on the big stage."
He also discussed his World Series campaign so far and summed it up in one word in particular.
"Almost I think that's the word, I've almost been good and I've almost been rubbish. The first one I think I should have beat Michael (van Gerwen) but when someone hits 7/7 on doubles you can't come off and complain and the second one, I thought I played well early doors but I didn't take my chances."
