Jonny Clayton was clinical in the end to open up his account against Mal Cuming at the
New Zealand Darts Masters but by his own admission didn't feel comfortable despite winning 6-1.
"I didn't feel comfortable up there to be honest because of the slow start. But once I warmed up a little bit I just done what I had to do to beat Mal, he didn't get going so I thank him for that and I've done my job," said Clayton to Online Darts.
"It's like every other game you want to come off the blocks racing and I didn't there so it makes that game a little more difficult as you want to be hitting those big scores. In the end we did the doubles, we did the scores and I'm happy."
"My confidence is high, it's just getting out the blocks fast and that's what I need to work on."
Next up is Michael van Gerwen and it's a tie he is looking forward to as always.
"When you play the best player in the world, it's always a good match and I think my games against Mike have proved they are good games and if I play I come through that as well."
