Darts players planning to travel to the United Kingdom for tournaments must now comply with a new entry requirement. The UK has introduced an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETIA)—a mandatory travel permit that must be obtained in advance.

The ETIA is a digital authorization required for travelers heading to England, Scotland, Wales, or Northern Ireland. This applies not only to darts players but also to tourists, business travelers, and those visiting family or friends. The system is similar to the ESTA in the United States and Canada’s eTA program.

British authorities have implemented this measure to better track incoming travelers and enhance security by reducing potential risks.

For darts players, this means that participation in PDC tournaments, WDF events, or any other dart competitions in the UK is not possible without prior approval. However, the ETA remains valid for two years, allowing multiple visits within that period without requiring a new application each time.

Applying for an ETA is a quick and straightforward online process, accessible via an official app. The current fee is £10 (approximately €12) per person, but it will increase to £16 (€19) on April 10. Even children and infants need their own ETA.

Dutch travel agencies and airlines are warning passengers that failing to obtain an ETA could result in being denied entry at customs, airports, or ferry terminals. To avoid any disruptions when traveling for a darts tournament, it is crucial to apply in time. Processing usually takes up to three working days.

For more information and to apply for an ETA, visit the official UK government website.
