Dave Chisnall survives slow start to battle past Cameron Menzies and into the third round at the World Darts Championship

Although he took a bit of time to get going, Dave Chisnall has successfully booked his place in round 3 of the 2024 PDC World Darts Championships with a 3-1 win over Cameron Menzies.

After coming through an action-packed encounter with Rusty-Jake Rodriguez on Friday, Menzies continued his winning way early in this second round tie. Punishing a slow start from Chisnall, the Scot raced to a 1-0 lead, winning all three legs in the opening set.

Hitting his first 180, Chisnall got his first leg of the match to begin the second set and with his level much improved, 'Chizzy' moved two legs clear via a 68 checkout. Menzies though, broke back at a 76 finish of his own in leg 3 and after Chisnall missed two for the set in leg 4, the Scotsman ensured a deciding leg would be required. In the deciding leg, it was Chisnall who took it, getting back on level terms.

Chisnall raced through the second set, cleaning up all three legs without much pressure being applied on him by Menzies.

In set 3 however, the Scotsman appeared to have awoken from his mid-match slumber. Leading the fourth set 2-1, Menzies then passed up multiple set darts however, allowing Chisnall to return and punish him. With that it seemed the last bit of fight had left Menzies as in the deciding leg of the set, Chisnall was able to afford himself a couple of missed before finally getting himself over the line.
