Jose de Sousa will return to the Alexandra Palace after Christmas with a remarkable comeback win over Jason Lowe to begin his 2021/22 PDC
World Darts Championship campaign.
De Sousa came from two sets down to defeat Lowe 3-2 taking out 124 in the process to complete his comeback. He will now face Alan Soutar in a Quarter that also includes Nathan Aspinall and Callan Rydz.
Lowe began the tie with a 125 and 118 checkout with the latter to claim the set in a deciding leg. He was averaging around 108 to begin the match.
The upset became more and more of a possibility as Lowe edged the second set in a decider to double his lead but this is where 'The Special One' showed his true character.
He clawed his way back into the tie with an 81 checkout to make it 2-1 before drawing level on double nine as Lowe continued to falter.
It was seven legs from nine as De Sousa led in the decider before going one away with a 72 checkout. The comeback was sealed from there with a 124 checkout.
