The first block of
Premier League Darts action this year is complete with
Jose de Sousa finally getting his reward seeing off Dimitri van den Bergh ending his unbeaten run in the process.
De Sousa averaged 104.3 with six 180's as he ran out a 7-3 winner over 'The Dreammaker' and it sees Jonny Clayton hit the front to conclude the first half.
De Sousa opened the tie with a 57 checkout on double 20 for an early break but missed double 20 for a 55 checkout in the requisite leg and there was an instant reply from Van den Bergh.
There was also one from 'The Special One' who picked out double eight for a break back before finally being able to open up a two leg gap at 3-1.
It was soon 4-1 after Van den Bergh missed double 16 for a 132 checkout and De Sousa replied with a 106. He threatened to blow him away in emphatic fashion by making it 5-1 but he missed three darts to take a point and Van den Bergh found a potentially way back into the tie.
Following that up with seven perfect darts before taking out 41, he made it 5-3 but he missed double 20 for a 77 checkout to go one away from parity and De Sousa assured himself of a point.
From there, he claimed the victory to survive the late fightback from 'The Dreammaker' and end his first stint in the Premier League well.
