De Sousa punishes doubling woes to deny De Zwaan, O'Connor dumps out Smith in decider

In the penultimate Quarter-Final to be confirmed at the Hungarian Darts Trophy, Jose de Sousa will face William O'Connor this evening in Budapest after victories over Jeffrey de Zwaan and Michael Smith respectively.

De Sousa punished doubling woes from De Zwaan who missed 1`7 in all throughout the contest in falling 6-4 in the Last 16 as his resurgence was brought not a halt.

After going 4-1 down, he reduced the deficit to 4-3 with two 15-darters but the legs began to run out at 5-4 down and De Sousa sealed a 13-darter for his spot in the last eight.

While O'Connor produced a comeback to deny Smith. He sealed it 6-5 after trailing 5-3 down but with his back against the wall produced some darting brilliance.

He hit a 114 checkout, 14-darter and a 76 checkout concluded it as he sealed three legs in a row with a 98.8 average and 75% on the doubles en route. Superb from The Magpie.
