The draw and playing schedule for the German Darts Championship 2024 is known. From August 30 to September 1, seven Dutch players and one Belgian will compete for the title at the Euro Tour tournament in Hildesheim.
Some big names have to start in the first round. Raymond van Barneveld takes on Dom Taylor, while Dirk van Duijvenbode faces Brendan Dolan. James Wade faces an encounter with Maik Kuivenhoven, and Jelle Klaasen meets Nick Kenny. Dimitri van den Bergh, the only Belgian participant at the German Darts Championship, starts his tournament against Mensur Suljovic.

Michael van Gerwen will enter the tournament from the second round and will play against the winner from the match between Kuivenhoven and Wade. Teenage sensation Luke Littler will make his return to the Euro Tour against Dylan Slevin or darts veteran Steve Beaton, while Gerwyn Price will play against Dragutin Horvat or Krzysztof Ratajski.
Ricardo Pietreczko is the defending champion at the German Darts Championship. He was paired in the draw with the winner from the duel between Simon Whitlock and Callan Rydz.
The German Darts Championship is one of the oldest Euro Tour tournaments on the darts calendar. The tournament's honorary list includes a lot of different names. Michael van Gerwen (2015, 2018 and 2022) is the only player to win the German Darts Championship more than once. Dave Chisnall (2013), Gary Anderson (2014), Alan Norris (2016), Peter Wright (2017), Daryl Gurney (2019) Devon Petersen (2020) and Ricardo Pietreczko (2023) are the other tournament winners. Pietreczko sensationally won the title in Hildesheim last year. He beat Michael van Gerwen 7-6 in the semifinals before 'Pikachu' settled with Peter Wright (8-4) in the final.
