Gerwyn Price was the stand-out as the Quarter-Final line-up was set at the 2024
Dutch Darts Championship with a 6-1 hammering of home favourite Gian van Veen.
The level difference was reflected in the averages of both players. Price threw an average of 105.06, compared to 92.66 for Van Veen. Price also recorded a finishing percentage of 50 per cent.
The Welshman started the match with a 12-darter and then doubled the lead with a 14-darter. Van Veen got on the scoreboard in the third leg and then had to watch as Price then broke him again with a 56 finish. A 16-darter then took the former world champion to 4-1, before Price closed with a 70 finish and a 14-darter.
In the quarter-finals, Price will go up against
Josh Rock, who made for the elimination of Cameron Menzies. 'Cammy' had won over Raymond van Barneveld and Peter Wright earlier in the tournament, but failed to provide a third shock.
Indeed, Menzies took a 5-3 lead against Rock. The Northern Irishman closed to 4-5 with a 15-darter in the ninth leg, before seeing Menzies miss a matchdart on tops in the 10th leg. A 13-darter was then good for the equaliser before Rock took the win with a 14-darter in the deciding leg.
Martin Schindler eliminated Dimitri van den Bergh in the last sixteen on Sunday afternoon. The Belgian started the game well with a 15-darter and a 133 finish in the first two legs. Schindler then came back to 2-2, although Van den Bergh still managed to take a 4-3 lead with a 95 finish.
Schindler then outplayed his Belgian opponent. With a 16-darter, 'The Wall' made it 4-4, before the German turned on the turbo. A 12-darter made it 5-4 for Schindler, who then ended the match with an 11-darter.
Finally,
Luke Woodhouse also secured a place in the last eight of the Dutch Darts Championship. Edhouse missed a matchdart on tops in the last leg, after which Woodhouse took the win 6-5 with a fine 70 finish.
