Gerwyn Price won over
Jonny Clayton in front of his home crowd on Friday night. The two Welshmen faced off in an exhibition match in their home country, with the contest taking place in the Welsh city of Swansea.
Four players attended the event. In addition to former world champion Price and former Premier League champion Clayton,
Fallon Sherrock and two-time senior world champion
Robert Thornton were also in attendance.
Price and Clayton formed the main event of the evening. This Welsh cracker was won 6-2 by "The Iceman," who posted an average of 101.30 and threw three 180 scores. For Price, it was his first (unofficial) match after returning from the World Series tournaments in Australia and New Zealand. He skipped this week's Players Championship tournament in Milton Keynes. Clayton did play there, and managed to reach the last 32 at Players Championship 18 while 'The Ferret' was eliminated in the first round at Players Championship 19.
In addition to the match between the two Welshmen, Sherrock and Thornton also played a match against each other at the Mecca Bingo in Swansea. This match proved a 5-2 triumph for the 'Queen of the Palace'.
