Gian van Veen was facing the match of his life as the new crown prince of Dutch Darts was facing the King in Michael van Gerwen and it was the former who ended triumphant at the
European Championship Darts in Dortmund.
Van Veen dumped out the four-time winner who didn't show any sort of emotion as he was defeated by the rising star 10-6 and looked out of sorts as 'GVV' dealt a blow to his attempt to be five-time champion.

Van Gerwen returned to hit a 167 checkout, but that was the best of the opening exchanges for the Green Machine as Van Veen moved into further control at 7-3.
Van Veen started to miss some darts at doubles and MVG made it 8-5, but the former kept adding legs with the finishing line in sight and he hit 116 with no nerves to make it 9-5.
The famous win was wrapped up as despite missing darts at a double to win, MVG couldn't produce a skin saver and Van Veen as the crowd rose sealed it on double four last dart in hand.
