Greaves takes expected Matchplay win despite not being at her best: "I need to get more comfortable on the big stage"

Beau Greaves captured the title Sunday afternoon at the second edition of the Women's World Matchplay in Blackpool. Losing only four legs during the tournament.

The 19-year-old Englishwoman began the mini-tournament with a 4-0 win over Noa-Lynn van Leuven, before struggling to deal with Robyn Byrne (5-3). In the final, Greaves was then a 6-1 winner over Mikuru Suzuki, despite "Beau 'n' Arrow," throwing below an 80 average in the final.

"I wasn't at my best, but I got over the line, so I'm really happy," Greaves reflected afterwards. "I didn't think I was going to win this with the way I was playing, but after the year I've had and all the tournaments I've won, I'm so grateful to be stood here holding this trophy."

Because of her final victory in Blackpool, Greaves may compete in the Grand Slam of Darts and the World Darts Championship in the fall. "I'm so excited to be going to the Grand Slam and the World Championship, but I need to practice more! I need to get more comfortable on the big stage."

Next weekend begins the qualifying cycle for next year's Women's World Matchplay. "It means everything [to win this title]. I've got so much respect for all of the ladies that have played up here, and I'm looking forward to another great year." Greaves concluded.
