Daryl Gurney's fight for Premier League Darts survival continues as he has seen off Nathan Aspinall in a 7-5 win to move off the bottom of the table.
Gurney registered his first
Premier League Darts win of the year last night with victory over Chris Dobey and he has now leapfrogged Rob Cross who will take on Michael Smith shortly.
Aspinall took out 82 in the early going to go 2-1 up against Gurney who was averaging the same. The latter started to show some class with a 144 checkout to make it 2-2.
From there, they jostled for position but a break of throw saw Gurney go 4-3 up in a potentially pivotal moment. He went two clear from there at 5-3 with 5/7 on his doubles.
Aspinall stayed in touch at 5-4 but Gurney picked out double 10 to assure himself of at least a share of the points at 6-4.
'The Asp' made it interesting with a hold of throw to make it 6-5, this meant it was either maximum points for Gurney or a share of the points. A 15 darter sealed it with an 82 checkout with Aspinall ready to strike on 90.
