Henry Coates managed to throw a nine-darter at the 11th tournament of the PDC
Challenge Tour 2024 on Friday. For the 17-year-old talent, it is his first perfect leg on the PDC Tour.
Coates managed to throw a nine-darter in the opening round of PDC Challenge Tour 11 against Steve Haggerty. He started the fourth leg of the match with two 180 scores, after which Coates produced a 141 finish. He did eventually lose the match 5-3 however.
Coates' nine-darter is the fourth of the season on the 2024 Challenge Tour. Earlier this year, Jenson Walker, Kevin Burness and Thomas Lovely also managed to finish a leg in nine arrows.
The 17-year-old Coates is in his second season on the PDC Tour, having also been in action at the JDC tournaments from 2019 through 2023. This is a circuit for top talents aged 10 through 17. There, Coates regularly managed to win tournaments and regularly faced Luke Littler.
In 2023 and 2024, Coates tried to grab a PDC Tour Card at the Q-School, but failed. This does allow him to compete on the Challenge Tour. Earlier this season, the Englishman reached the quarterfinals of a Development Tour tournament for the first time in his career.
