April promises to be an exciting month for darts fans, with a packed schedule of tournaments on the agenda for PDC players. From the prestigious Premier League Darts to midweek Players Championship events and weekend European Tour tournaments, the month offers a rich variety of action.
Here’s a detailed look at all the PDC events taking place in April:
The month kicks off with Players Championship 10 on Tuesday, April 1, at the Mattioli Arena in Leicester. Part of a 34-event non-televised series, these tournaments offer PDC Tour Card holders the chance to earn valuable ranking points and prize money. Each event features a £125,000 prize fund, with £15,000 awarded to the winner.
Each Players Championship event features a field of 128 players—primarily Tour Card holders. If there are any withdrawals, the highest-ranked players from the Challenge Tour Order of Merit fill the vacant spots.
These events are the only route to qualify for the season-ending Players Championship Finals in Minehead, which features the top 64 players from the series.
On Wednesday, April 2, qualifiers will be held in Leicester for the fifth and sixth European Tour events. These give players without automatic qualification a shot at securing spots in the upcoming Euro Tour tournaments—vital opportunities for gaining ranking points towards major televised events.
These qualifiers are for Austrian Darts Open (ET5) and European Darts Grand Prix (ET6) which take place last weekend of April (25-27) and first weekend of May (2-4). Full confirmed fields are set after these qualifiers.
The Premier League resumes on Thursday, April 3, at the Uber Arena in Berlin for Night 9. This elite weekly event sees the world’s top players battle it out for points toward the end-of-season playoffs.
Despite not home hopes being in action, Berlin always turns out in its droves for the top darting stars as they do when they travel to the PDC World Darts Championship.
The third European Tour event of the year takes place from Friday to Sunday in Riesa. The International Darts Open features 48 players competing for £175,000 in prize money, with £30,000 going to the winner. The 14-event European Tour offers crucial ranking points toward qualification for the European Championship later this year.
Attention returns to the Players Championship series with back-to-back events on April 8 and 9, once again hosted at the Mattioli Arena in Leicester.
With Manchester only a few hours up the road, expect many of the top stars to be involved.
Week 10 of the Premier League Darts heads to the AO Arena in Manchester. With the race to the playoffs heating up, every match now carries extra weight as players battle for a spot in the final four.
A total of four Women’s Series events will take place across the weekend. The Women’s Series offers female players a pathway to the big stage, including the World Darts Championship, Grand Slam of Darts, and Women’s World Matchplay.
The top two players from the series will qualify for the World Championship, while the overall leader also earns a Grand Slam spot.
The Players Championship tour heads to the Netherlands for PC13 and PC14 at the Autotron in Rosmalen. The last time the venue hosted, several players criticized the cold conditions. They'll be hoping for better arrangements this time around.
The Premier League returns to Dutch soil for Night 11 at Rotterdam Ahoy. Always a fan favourite, the orange-clad Dutch crowd creates a spectacular atmosphere. Expect Michael van Gerwen to be especially fired up to perform on home turf.
The Zenith Arena in Munich once again hosts the German Darts Grand Prix over the Easter weekend. With top names like Luke Humphries, Luke Littler, and Michael van Gerwen in action, it’s a must-watch tournament on the European Tour calendar.
Week 12 sees the Premier League visit Liverpool's M&S Bank Arena. It will be a special night for local favourite Stephen Bunting, who will relish the chance to play in front of a home crowd. With the league stage nearing its conclusion, every point is critical.
April concludes with the Austrian Darts Open, the fifth Euro Tour stop of the season. It will be held from April 25–27 in Premstättner Halle. However, the event will be missing its biggest stars—Luke Littler, Luke Humphries, Michael van Gerwen, and Rob Cross have all withdrawn. Their absence opens the door for others, with Jonny Clayton entering the tournament as the top seed.
