The mammoth prize money breakdown of £500,000 overall for the 2025 PDC Winmau World Masters has been confirmed with the first iteration of the historic tournament taking place between January 30 - February 2, 2025.
The top 24 players from the PDC Order of Merit following the World Darts Championship will be automatically seeded. The eventual champion will take home a £100,000 prize, with £50,000 on offer to the runner-up. Semi-Finalists will attain £30,000, while for Quarter-Finalists it is £17,500.
There has been some contention to this announcement as the prize money will only be paid out in the knockout stages of the preliminary round from the Last 64 onwards meaning for those wanting to travel over it is a decision they will have to make.
It will be done in groups with 32 players seeded through to the Last 64, they are joined by the 32 Group Winners from the round-robin.
This group stage sees players seeded as one per group (players 57-88 on the PDC Order of Merit) with the remaining players both in the 128 and also those who come from secondary tours drawn at random in those groups.
It is a return of the format which is the most historic in darts and has taken place in the WDF in recent years albeit under leg format now instead of the historic sets and will bring the likes of Van Gerwen, Littler, Humphries either back into the format that they played at the turn of their career or into it for the first time.
