Jack Tweddell claimed victory at the 15th event of the 2025 PDC Challenge Tour, defeating fellow Englishman Mervyn King 5-1 in the final to lift the title. It marks a significant achievement for Tweddell as he continues to make his mark on this year’s tour.
Although Tweddell took home the trophy, the highest average of the day belonged to Jurjen van der Velde. The 22-year-old Dutchman, who was runner-up at last year’s PDC World Youth Championship, produced a superb display in the last 256. He defeated Nathan Care 5-2 while registering a brilliant 108.32 average — the highest recorded across the entire event. Van der Velde’s run came to an end in the next round, as he suffered a 5-3 defeat to compatriot Danny van Trijp.
Second on the list of top averages was Ireland’s Michael Flynn. He posted an excellent 104.33 average in his last 128 clash against Darius Labanauskas, securing a 5-2 victory over the Lithuanian. Flynn advanced to the quarter-finals before narrowly losing 5-4 to Nathan Girvan.
Completing the top three was Shaun Carroll. The 47-year-old Englishman was edged out 5-3 by Steve Hine in the last 256, but still posted a higher average of 101.89 compared to Hine’s 97.18. Carroll’s standout display, despite the defeat, placed him among the event’s top performers on the statistical charts.
Just outside the top three was Ron Meulenkamp, the second Dutchman on the list. ‘The Bomb’ produced a 97.92 average in his last 64 match, where he comfortably defeated Kevin Leadenham 5-2. Meulenkamp exited the tournament in the following round after a 5-2 loss to Jamie Atkins.
Other notable averages on the day included Darius Labanauskas (97.31), Steve Hine (97.18), and Keane Barry (96.81). Players such as Thomas Francis, Barrie Walker, and Matt Clark also featured in the event’s top 15 averages.
The Challenge Tour now takes a break for several months, with the next events scheduled for the weekend of August 15–17 in Leicester, where events 16 to 20 will be contested.
