The second semi-final has been confirmed at the Czech Darts Open with Jamie Hughes through to his second European Tour semi-final and he is set to face Simon Whitlock.
Hughes faced off against the form man of late on the
European Tour in the form of Ian White who was aiming for yet another title.
It was 'Yozza' though that came out on top in a high quality deciding leg with him averaging 99.8 en route.
This also sees the Tipton ace potentially go one step further to a shock spot at the World Matchplay with him having to win the title to claim the final spot. It would be at the expense of his good friend and fellow stablemate, James Wilson.
Whitlock faced off against Mervyn King and claimed a 6-4 win over 'The King' in a hard fought contest.
He went 2-0 ahead in the early going after capitalising on some poor darts from the Bradwell ace which saw him throw 27 darts but fail to win the leg.
King came back though smashing in a 138 checkout which accounted for a 12 dart leg to bring him to only one behind the Wizard.
A two leg cushion was soon restored with Whitlock finishing 85 to go 3-1 ahead. King was struggling on doubles at 2/15 but made it 2-4.
This continued with King visibly struggling on stage with the heat but he claimed a third consecutive leg which in turn asked the question of his opponent. Whitlock though surged to the victory and another semi-final appearance.
