After his defeat in the final of the
2026 German Darts Grand Prix,
Danny Noppert spoke realistically yet defiantly about his performance. The Dutchman had to concede 8-5 to
Nathan Aspinall, but could still look back on a solid tournament in which he once again showed he belongs among the PDC elite.
“Nathan was the deserved winner”
Throughout the tournament, the Dutchman impressed with his steady scoring and trademark composure on stage. Heading into the final, he even seemed on course for another title, but in the title decider, he just lacked that extra edge. “I’m really happy to be in the final again,”
insisted Noppert afterwards to the PDC. “I didn’t show up in the final, and Nathan was the deserved winner."
Still, there was no overwhelming disappointment for the Dutchman. On the contrary, he mainly highlighted the positives from his display in Germany. “I always believe in [winning] a title. I don’t know when, but I’m proud to reach the final," he adds.
Very consistent level
With this run to the final,
Noppert once again underlined his consistency on the Euro Tour. He has long been among the players who regularly go deep, but still converts a few too few finals into wins. “Of course I wanted to lift the title," he admits. "There is another level I can go to, and I am pushing myself hard every time.”
Danny Noppert lost the final 8-5 to Nathan Aspinall
Over the coming weeks, Noppert will already turn his focus to the next events on the PDC calendar. With his current form, it seems only a matter of time before he makes another push for a title.
The next
European Tour event takes place in Sindelfingen, Germany. The European Darts Grand Prix is scheduled there from April 17th through April 19th. Gary Anderson will start that tournament as the defending champion, after beating Andrew Gilding 8-0 in last year’s final.
