Gerwyn Price and
Bradley Brooks have both hit back at
Vincent van der Voort after the Dutchman’s comments about Price’s recent weight loss caused a stir online earlier this week.
Van der Voort made the remarks on his Darts Draait Door podcast, where he joked about how Price “used to be massive” but had “gone too far” with his fitness transformation — even quipping that “pretty soon he’ll be getting beaten up by Bradley Brooks.”
The Dutch ex-pro went on to say that Price “should put some weight back on,” comments that quickly went viral and sparked debate among fans about whether they crossed a line.
Price responds: "I feel and look better than ever"
Price wasted little time in addressing the chatter. Posting a series of photos to Instagram showcasing his leaner physique, the former World Champion delivered a firm but upbeat message to those expressing “concern” about his appearance.
“Concerned about my weight loss? Well don’t be,” he wrote. “I feel and look better than ever.”
The post, accompanied by a few before and after images, was flooded with support from fans, many praising the Welshman’s discipline and work ethic.
Price has previously spoken about overhauling his lifestyle to improve focus and longevity in the sport, and his latest response made clear he has no regrets about the changes.
Brooks joins in: “Stick to commentary”
Former World Youth Champion Bradley Brooks didn’t let Van der Voort’s name-drop slide either.
The 25-year-old fired back on X (formerly Twitter) with a pointed reply that quickly made the rounds among darts fans.
“Should stick to commentary…. Miles better at that then he was at darts.”
Van der Voort’s comments spark debate
Van der Voort’s remarks came as part of a light-hearted exchange on Darts Draait Door, where he laughed that Price “used to be massive” but had “gone too far now,” even joking that “pretty soon he’ll be getting beaten up by Bradley Brooks.”
He finished by saying his comments were meant as “friendly advice,” adding: “It’s not that I’m worried about him — for all I care, he can lose even more — but I’d tell him to eat a bit more. He owns a fish and chip shop, so that shouldn’t be a problem.”
While the tone was clearly tongue-in-cheek, the reaction online showed that not everyone found the humour easy to swallow, with many fans feeling the jokes about Price’s physique crossed a line.
Van der Voort's comments sparked debate online
Price focused on performance, not opinions
As for Price himself, his response signals a refusal to be drawn into the noise. The former world champion remains one of the sport’s most disciplined professionals, with his physical transformation reflecting a renewed commitment to fitness and longevity. And having finished 2025 top of the Pro Tour Order of Merit with multiple title wins to his name, he doesn't seem to be doing much wrong.
Whatever critics might say, the Welshman looks content — and as his latest post makes clear, perfectly happy in his own skin.
