Gerwyn Price has bagged his first tournament victory of 2025 season. 'The Iceman' defeated
Chris Dobey 8-7 in the final of the second
Players Championship of the year. For Price, it is his first title since 2023 on the PDC Pro Tour.
It was a high profile final in Wigan and with Price having lost recent thrillers to Dobey at the PDC World Darts Championship and the
Premier League Darts, the Welshman enjoyed coming out on top. "I think Chris played better than me in that final, but I hung in there until the end," Price reflected afterwards. "Today has been brilliant. Yesterday I played really well too; I'm getting back to my best. I'm enjoying the game more. I think my mentality and the way I think has changed, and it has just benefitted me."
Price has also been working with a sports psychologist recently, and is beginning to see the rewards. "I had a little bit of help with a sports psychologist before the World Championship, which really helped. There's a lot more positivity in my game now, and it seems to be working!" Price explains honestly.
Gerwyn 'The Iceman' Price in action
A busy calendar awaits Price with the Premier League Darts, UK Open, European Tour and Players Championships. It's fair to say though, that the confidence and fire is back for the former world champion, making him a dangerous prospect for anyone.
"I know how well I am playing, but when it comes to the big games sometimes, I am trying too hard because I want it too much," he concludes. "This is what I needed. This win will hopefully make things come a little bit easier, because when you're winning you don't try too hard."
Price doesn't have long until he's back in action, with Night 2 of the 2025 Premier League Darts taking place this Thursday night.
