Luke Humphries is looking forward to his debut in
Premier League Darts. The reigning world champion will take on Luke Littler in his opening match.
For Humphries, it will be his full Premier League debut although, in 2019 and 2020, he did get to compete as a challenger. "I think I've been close for a couple of years but now I've finally got my turn," he tells the PDC. "I bided my time and made sure that my game was in the best shape possible this year. I was gutted to miss out last year but it was the right decision. It turned me into a winner."
World champion and world number one, Humphries realizes that in this Premier League, all eyes are on him for the final victory. "I probably have got a target on my back. I don't feel the pressure of it though," he insists. "I don't think I've played particularly well in the two World Series, to be honest with you. But my practice routine has been a bit up and down. I haven't really been at home as much as I used to be, so I need to adapt."
"I've won most of the tournaments recently so of course I'm going to be the man that everyone believes is going to win it but, there are so many good players in darts and it wouldn't surprise me if anyone of us went on and won it. You have to be really consistent over 16 weeks so for me it's all about getting into the top-4 that's all I care about. "
