"I want to push myself and everybody else" - Stowe Buntz hoping he can take North American darts to the next level after latest CDC Tour success

Stowe Buntz became a very well liked figure in the darting scene with his flamboyant outfits and quality darts during the Grand Slam of Darts in 2023 and the 2024 World Darts Championship.

Back home in North America and playing on the CDC Tour, Buntz was successful last weekend, taking a title win in Illinois. Buntz disposed of Dustin Holt (5-0), Davey Mayne (6-2), Doug Boehm (6-5), Jacob Taylor (7-1) and David Cameron (7-5) in succession to take the victory.

"Dave came out shooting very, very well and jumped out to a tough lead. Fortunately, I able to battle back," reflect the American of an exciting final in his post-match interview with the CDC's YouTube page. "He missed a lot of doubles, created some opportunities for me and I was able to capitalize on them but he definitely outplayed me."

Buntz has been steadily improving over the last few years, becoming one of the dominant forces on the CDC Tour. Key to these consistently solid results, has been his scoring power and a good first dart, as he explains. "In the semi-finals this board was working out well for me, I had it dialed in perfectly. Got to the finals and my first dart felt amazing leaving my hand and my arm, but it was just going a tad bit high and I like to stack my darts so that was forcing me to go to the 19s," he explains.

"I hope I don't get complacent, so I definitely want it to be a challenge every time. I want the best of what North America has to offer and I want to push myself and everybody else," Buntz concludes. "I don't want this (winning titles ed.) to become second nature now. I want to get pushed and go to the brink every time, or at least make it good matches and entertaining. At the end of the day, if North American darts continue to do that, we'll be able to compete with the rest of the world."
