Ian White has reached the third round at the 2025 PDC World Darts Championship, dumping out European champion Ritchie Edhouse in a real battle on the Ally Pally stage. Luke Littler now awaits for 'Diamond'.

Both Edhouse and White were making their first appearance at the Alexandra Palace this year in this one after the 'Diamond's first round opponent Sandro Eric Sosing had to withdrew pre-match earlier this week. That rustiness was on full display in the opening leg too as both players missed numerous darts at double before Edhouse eventually took it on double 3. In fact, throughout the opening set, neither player looked comfortable, but in the end, it was Edhouse who moved into a 1-0 lead despite averaging just 81.62.

The second set too was nothing to really write home about standard-wise. That didn't matter one ounce to Ian White though as 'Diamond' levelled the match up at 1-1 with a 16-darter in the 4th leg of the set.

Set three also went to the experienced White as Edhouse became visibly more frustrated at the lack of form he was showing. Far removed from the kind of darts that saw 'Madhouse' crowned European champion, Edhouse was still floundering disappointingly in the low 80s with his average.

White kept the momentum on his side with a solid hold of throw to open the fourth set. Edhouse kept himself in contact in the next leg, but having only hit double 9 with his 4th dart at double in the leg, 'Madhouse' looked more frustrated than motivated afterwards. After Edhouse missed a dart at the bull to break in the next leg though, White punished with a clinical 110 checkout to go one leg from the third round. A few moments later the job was complete at White went even better with a 118 finish to seal victory.
