"If he wins it back-to-back, it'll be: well what about three in a row?" - Laura Turner backs Luke Littler to break World Cup of Darts records

Luke Littler and Luke Humphries have already delivered England’s sixth World Cup of Darts title, but the bigger question may be how long the rest of the field can keep them within reach.

England beat the Netherlands 10-5 in the 2026 final, with Littler and Humphries winning the title together for the first time after a commanding final session in Frankfurt.
The top seeds arrived with expectation around them, survived pressure earlier in the tournament, then finished the job against Michael van Gerwen and Gian van Veen.
Speaking on Sky Sports’ Love the Darts Podcast, Laura Turner suggested this could be the start of a long English run at the top of the pairs event. “It’s feels that way, it really does,” Turner said.

Turner sees no sign of England easing off

The danger for England’s rivals is not only the level Littler and Humphries can produce together. Turner pointed to the mentality around the pair after their first World Cup title as a partnership. “They've already implied and said they want to come back,” she said.
Littler’s own record chase gives the story another layer. Still only 19, he has already shown a clear appetite for milestones, and Turner believes that could keep driving England’s World Cup ambitions beyond this first shared success.

“Littler especially, wants to break records,” Turner said. “He is already breaking records, but now he wants to be that team that wins it back-to-back. That's the new goal. And if he wins it back-to-back, it'll be: well what about three in a row?"
That leaves England in a position every other nation has to measure itself against. Humphries gives the pair world-class reliability, Littler brings another level of box-office pressure, and both now have proof that the partnership can handle the weight of being overwhelming favourites.

Edgar sees shades of Phil Taylor

Former PDC Tour Card holder Matthew Edgar also looked at England’s hunger after the win, drawing a comparison with the mentality that helped Phil Taylor dominate darts for so long.

“If you remember Taylor, after he won a trophy it was always: 'What's rhe next one I can win?',” Edgar said on the Love the Darts Podcast. “There was no victory lap, there was no night out, it was always about what's next. I get that vibe from Littler as well."
That comparison is less about style than appetite. Littler and Humphries did not treat the World Cup as a one-off box ticked in Frankfurt. The immediate talk was about coming back, defending the title, and pushing the partnership into something more lasting.
The chasing nations still have the talent to threaten. Van Gerwen and Van Veen reached the final for the Netherlands, Scotland made the semi-finals through Gary Anderson and Cameron Menzies, and Northern Ireland had arrived as defending champions.
England now sit above them all. Littler and Humphries have the title, the ranking power, and the stated hunger to return for more.
