"If I take my glasses off, I can’t play darts" - Sponsorship with Specsavers coming in handy for Beau Greaves

Beau Greaves has become synonymous on the oche winning all sorts of titles very early in her career. She has her vision aided by glasses, with the 22-year-old admitting that she is 'blind' without them. It was handy then when optician Specsavers struck a commercial partnership with Greaves, who explained how it came about.

Specsavers had insured Greaves' eyes for a staggering £1 million, an enormous sum that matched an unusual policy. It occurred straight after Greaves secured a third Women's Matchplay title in Blackpool.
Her ability on the oche has been helped by glasses with good vision crucial when competing in any sport, but especially darts, making this partnership a significant one.
'Beau 'n' Arrow' had been delighted to have partnered up with Specsavers. “In darts, having clear, reliable vision is a huge part of performing at your best," she previously said. Partnering with Specsavers feels like a natural fit because my eyesight is such a big part of my game, so it makes sense to protect it.”
Glasses pivotal for Greaves' success – "I say I’m blind"
It is one that makes a lot of sense for Greaves, who can be seen regularly boasting a pair of glasses whether competing in darts or away from the sport. She had them on when chatting to the Weekly Dartscast on the matter, pointing out the speed she gets them.
"Well, the funny thing is, obviously, I always used to go for an eye test and then order them online and that," she said. "I never used to buy them in the shop. I’ve never had a pair of glasses come so quickly through the post. It’s probably the best thing ever."

It is a family affair with glasses, a theme in the Greaves household. "I joke about it to my mum. My dad wears glasses and my sister as well. I was like, “Yeah, I get them in, like, a day maybe, if that.” It’s fantastic."
On the sponsorship, it was yet another sign of Greaves' stardom. A trailbazer for women's darts, her success on the Women's Series has since been topped by a smooth transition to the PDC Tour. She is the first woman darter to have won a PDC ranking title and secure a win on the European Tour.
"It was strange, obviously, getting the sponsorship from that," she continued. "I say I’m blind, but I’m not. But obviously, I say if I take my glasses off, I can’t play darts. So yeah, it was strange kind of saying to people, like, 'Yeah, just because I wear glasses and obviously I need them all the time.'"

They also produced an advert that Greaves was involved in, all new to her as she continues to make her way up the darts pecking order. "We did an advert as well. That was funny. That was cool to film.

"Obviously Specsavers are so well known. That was another weird moment for me as well. Sometimes things happen and I think how crazy it is to kind of have them on my shirt and stuff. And yeah, I love it. And obviously the glasses are just... I obviously need them all the time, so they were handy to put on the shirt. And yeah, I love it."

- I loved Jan and loved his walk on music "Explode" by Jordan & Baker. I think if he stuck around the BDO he definitely would have been World Champion, should have won in 2014, he never really showed any of his talent in the PDC. I remembered he worked in a bank or in finance and maybe that was his priority, he was also a fan and interested in magic. Definitely should have achieved much more in darts than he did. - This is exactly what I mean,littler survives the 1st round,I think you'll find a lot of other players did. Can you just report on the real sport,and not just 1 person. I like Luke,but this is getting boring now,as Kevin painter once said to Taylor!!
