In a thrilling climax in Krakow, Luke Littler etched his name into the history books by winning the inaugural edition of the Poland Darts Open. The Englishman withstood a sensational nine-darter from Gian van Veen in the final and prevailed 8-4 on a magical closing day of the very first European Tour event on Polish soil.
The Poland Darts Open, part of the PDC European Tour 2026, produced a dream final. Littler and Van Veen faced off again in a rematch of last month’s World Championship final at Alexandra Palace. Littler won convincingly then by 7-1 in sets, and in Krakow the current world number one again showed why he holds that status.

“It’s been a very good weekend for myself”

“It’s been a very good weekend for myself,” Littler reflected with satisfaction afterwards. “I felt really good throughout the tournament. In the first three weeks of the Premier League I’ve not felt the best, so I definitely needed this one.
The Englishman, who claimed his fifth European Tour title with this win, stressed that it wasn’t just about the trophy. “I wanted to come here and win the title and that’s what I’ve done. Most importantly it was about playing well, getting that average up and hitting my doubles."

Littler also pointed to his strong opening match against Mike De Decker as the foundation for his tournament. “My first game against Mike De Decker was incredible, and I’m very happy and very confident now going into Belfast on Thursday.”
The European Tour continues on the weekend of March 13th, 14th and 15th, when the European Darts Trophy takes place in Göttingen. Nathan Aspinall starts that tournament as defending champion, having beaten Ryan Joyce 8-4 in last year’s final. Littler himself did not take part in the European Darts Trophy last year and is also skipping the trip to Germany this year.
