Stephen Bunting has been in excellent form in recent months. He proved that again this week at the 2025 Bahrain Darts Masters. In the opening tournament of the World Series of Darts 2025, he defeated Gerwyn Price 8-4 in the final.
Bunting particularly impressed in Bahrain. On his way to the final, he threw an average of 111.33 in his 6-0 quarterfinal win against Chris Dobey, at that time a record in the Bahrain Darts Masters. Later in the evening, however, that was broken again by Price, who did even better in his 6-2 win in the quarterfinals against Luke Littler with an average of a whopping 115.31.
At the recent PDC World Darts Championship, Bunting reached the semifinals (in which he lost 6-1 to Luke Littler). Bunting also performed strongly last year on the Pro Tour, reaching the final of a Players Championship tournament no less than six times.
In fact, Bunting won 39 of his last 51 matches in official PDC tournaments; only Littler did better. Due to his strong performances, Bunting has now moved up to fifth place in the world rankings. The crowd favourite has also been selected for the 2025 Premier League Darts.
Next weekend, Bunting will be back in action. After all, the second tournament of the World Series of Darts 2025 will take place.
Bunting has won 39 of his last 51 matches in all PDC events. Going back to 1st October, that's the second best record behind Luke Littler.
