Speaking at the
Modus Super Series, four-time women's world champion,
Lisa Ashton was full of praise for the next generation of female darting stars, most notably,
Beau Greaves.
"It's brilliant to see," said the Lancashire Rose when asked about Beau Greaves and the overall improving standard of women's darts. "It shows it's not just me and Fallon anymore. It's brilliant what she can do at her age."
With Greaves being as dominant as she has been in the PDC
Women's Series, some of the spotlight and pressure has been taken away from Ashton although she herself doesn't see that as necessarily a bad thing. "It takes the pressure off me a bit more now. Because I did so well in it last year, now Beau is taking pressure off me so I can just go and play," Ashton explains. "People still expect a lot but I'm happy and my game will come back."
Ashton is also keen to use her role as something of a flag bearer for women's darts to help guide the next generation. "I'm happy to help them, the standard they're playing at I'm the one that needs to raise their game. They've got no fear these kids," says Ashton. "It gives me incentive to get back there, to my best and compete with Beau, Fallon and the rest of the ladies."
