Joe Cullen hasn't had much Pro Tour joy of late, but the Englishman dispatched Chris Landman to keep his run today going. The first four legs of the match went with the darts. Then 'The Rockstar' stepped up a gear by hitting a 12-darter and a 13-darter to take a 4-2 lead. A 16-darter then brought Cullen to 5-2, before he closed with a 17-darter. In the quarterfinals, Cullen will face James Hurrell, who edged Jim Williams 6-5. On the same side of the bracket, Florian Hempel and Ryan Searle face each other in the last eight. They won over Dave Chisnall (6-4) and Stephen Bunting (6-3), respectively.
Ross Smith is another big name still in the tournament. He was 6-2 too strong for Ryan Joyce. His next round pick is Keane Barry. The Irishman triumphed 6-0 against Graham Hall.
The remaining quarterfinal is between Cameron Menzies and Josh Rock. Rock beat Niels Zonneveld 6-4. Menzies eliminated Nick Kenny 6-4.
A total of 125,000 pounds in prize money is distributed at each Players Championship tournament. The winner of the event will receive a check for 15,000 pounds.
