Josh Rock has brightened his debut on the PDC
Development Tour with the title. The Northern Irishman, who skipped the first two tournaments on Friday, defeated Lewy Williams in the final.
Rock also showed his skills in January on the Q-School, where he, as a relatively unknown player, managed to get a Tour Card. On the Pro Tour he showed some strong performances after that, but without good results so far.
The 20-year old Rock played another strong tournament on Saturday, in which he only had one match below 90 average. On his way to the final he beat Jason Meek (4-0), Daniel Perry (4-0), Nathan Care (4-1), Leighton Bennett (4-3), Tomas Houdek (5-2) and Thomas Keenan (5-3). The final then proved to be a victory for 'Rocky' after a leg-decider against Williams.
The Development Tour is the PDC's youth circuit. This tour is open for players aged 16 to 23. Players who turn 24 during the season are allowed to finish this year.
Each Development Tour tournament has a prize fund of £10,000. With the prize money a ranking will be made. At the end of the season the numbers one and two will receive an invitation to the PDC World Darts Championship, plus a Tour Card for 2023 and 2024.
