Joyce on confidence after Sedlacek victory: "Two years ago I knew I would lose to MVG, now I want to play the big boys"

Ryan Joyce survived in an opening round victory over Karel Sedlacek with six match darts falling short for 'Evil Charlie'.

Joyce, a first time PDC ranking winner in 2020 admitted he felt he got lucky in that tie but that going forward he has the confidence.

"A bit of relief really. I got lucky in the end in the last set, it felt like one of those games where it was difficult to hold throw. He played well on my throw and I played well on his throw, it seemed like it was going like that. I was lucky to get through," said Joyce post match.

"I don't feel any pressure normally when I'm playing in any event but today I really felt it towards the end of that match."

"Two years ago I knew I would lose to Van Gerwen, now I want to play the big boys."
