Kuivenhoven stuns Gurney, White eases past Waites as action begins at European Darts Grand Prix

The action has begun on Saturday at the European Darts Grand Prix with Maik Kuivenhoven producing a shock win over Daryl Gurney.

A match which was level to begin the tie with Kuivenhoven managing to win two legs in a row at 3-3 to go into the position to win.

But Gurney fought back nicely to 5-5, the Dutchman produced when it mattered though with an 11-darter in the deciding leg.

Defending champion Ian White may not make the European Championship after a poor start to the European Tour but he claimed his first win with victory over Scott Waites.

The latter came back from 3-0 to claim a 4-2 deficit but that was little more than a consolation as White went on to claim the match 6-2.
