Dave Chisnall has won the first edition of the
Flanders Darts Trophy. Chizzy beat Ricardo Pietreczko 8-6 in the final at the Antwerp Expo. For Chisnall it is already the second tournament victory on the
European Tour this year, after winning the European Darts Open.
For Chisnall, it was his eighth tournament victory of his career on the European Tour. "I'm really happy, it means a lot to me to win this," said Chisnall, who climbs to sixth in the world rankings.
The 43-year-old also had a word of thanks for the Belgian crowd. "The crowd were great, they brought the best out of me all weekend," he said.

"I've played a great tournament; I got lucky against Peter [Wright] but apart from that I think I deserve to win the event. Backstage my manager told me it was my 100th European Tour event so I said to him 'let's go win it then' and thankfully that's what I've done."
Major title
Chisnall has already won several tournaments on the European Tour and the Players Championship, but is still waiting for a first major title. He has already lost six major finals and was also a losing finalist at the BDO World Championship in 2010. Still, he is not giving up hope for a major title just yet. "I will win a TV event one day, it will happen. I won't give in until it does."
The European Tour continues on the weekend of Sept. 20, 21 and 22. Then Chisnall will defend his title at the Hungarian Darts Trophy, where he was too strong for Luke Humphries last year in the final, 8-7. A few days before that, Chisnall enters Players Championships 20 and 21 on Sept. 17 and 18.
