Michael van Gerwen has joined the last eight at the Dutch Darts Masters. In Den Bosch, just a ten-minute drive from his hometown of Vlijmen, he defeated Vincent van der Voort 6-1 in the first round. Luke Humphries similarly eased into the next round.
The level was not outstanding. Van Gerwen posted an average of 94, compared to 83 for Van der Voort. Thanks to a 17-darter, Van Gerwen broke his compatriot in the second leg, after which a 12-darter made it 3-0.

In the fourth leg, Van der Voort managed to get on the scoreboard with a 16-darter. Van Gerwen then brought the score to 4-1 with a 46 check-out, before 'Mighty Mike' closed with a 14-darter and a 94 finish. Saturday night in the quarterfinals, another compatriot awaits Van Gerwen. Then Raymond van Barneveld will be the opponent in the quarterfinals of the World Series tournament in Den Bosch.
World champion Luke Humphries easily qualified for the quarterfinals at the Dutch Darts Masters. He defeated Jermaine Wattimena 6-0.
