Luke Humphries looks to be on his way to making PDC history by becoming the first player ever to break the two million pound barrier in the world rankings. He currently stands at £1,904,250 on the PDC Order of Merit.
Last weekend, Humphries took the title at the 2025 PDC
Winmau World Masters in Milton Keynes by defeating Jonny Clayton 6-5 in a thrilling final. As a result, "Cool Hand Luke" added a nice £100,000 to his world ranking. Now Humphries is less than a £100,000 away from breaking the magic barrier. Humphries could do this next month if he manages to win the UK Open.
Although Humphries swears he is driven by trophies and not money, he admits he still hopes to become the first player to have more than two million in prize money to his name. "It obviously would be really nice to do that," he explained after his Winmau World Masters win. "It’s not like a goal that you’re looking at and thinking I need to do that. The prize money in darts is just going to go up and up over the next few years, I think everyone knows that."
And as Humphries notes, with the prize money in the sport growing, it's only a matter of time before someone reaches the landmark, whether that's him or not. "It’s probably going to be a common thing, so someone is going to reach the £2 million mark whether I do it or not, but I’d like to be the first one to do it,” concludes the world number one.
