While it wasn't the result
Paul Lim would've been hoping for in a bit of a dismal thrashing, he made more history again at the Bahrain Darts Masters alongside
Luke Littler on Thursday night.
In facing off against Littler, it was the largest age gap between two players in a televised match. There was a 53 year age gap between the 18-year-old World No.1 and the 71-year-old darts legend who faced off in the first round.
In addition to this in a remarkable feat, Lim made his debut at the BDO World Darts Championship in 1982 which was before Littler's mum was even born. Littler also makes history in general as the youngest ever World No.1 and World Champion in the sport's history.
He will turn 19 on Wednesday just a day after the conclusion of the Saudi Arabia Darts Masters which forms part of the next World Series of Darts tournament. He and Lim could feasibly meet again in Riyadh with the first round being played on Monday.
Not a chance Littler plays for as long
Albeit when asked post his opener in Sakhir whether he would play for as long as Lim, he was unequivocally clear that he wouldn't be. โNot a chance. Iโll say it now.โ
โObviously the World Championship would have been a different breed. The fans, heโs a fan favourite. But it was the same tonight. When he got his first leg, made it 1-1, I just had to kick on and get the win.โ
โPaulโs doing well. Heโs been doing well for many, many years. Obviously very good soft tip player and then he brings it over with the proper points. Heโs just class. I wonder when heโs going to retire, but heโs still going very strong in the practice room as well.โ
His second match didn't go as well with Gerwyn Price
demolished Littler in one of his first losses in TV in some time as 'The Iceman' rose to the occasion to seal a much needed win after The Nuke had most of their Head to Head after a long term dominance from the Welshman. A streak of 21 straight wins stretching back 83 days over.
