Michael van Gerwen beat
Luke Littler in a last-leg decider to reach his third consecutive Premier League Night final, where he will take on a resurgent Nathan Aspinall.
These two superstars of the sport have faced each other three times this year already - all in finals - with van Gerwen leading the head to head 2-1. After Littler opened up proceedings on double eight, Van Gerwen levelled things up with a classy 127 on the bull. Both players struggled on the doubles in the fifth leg with the scores level, but it was the Dutchman who was able to hold his nerve and break throw in a crucial leg.
'The Green Machine' then followed that up with a brilliant 12-dart hold. Littler appeared to have tweaked his throw at the start of the night, but resorted to his trusty technique as the match began to peel away from him. Van Gerwen continued to look in cruise control and on course for a third consecutive night final. but the match turned on its head when the seven-time Premier League champion missed three clear match darts at tops. Littler forced a final leg, but 'Mighty Mike' showed his class by taking out 90 with two double 18s.
