Madars Razma writes history after semifinal place at Baltic Sea Darts Open in Kiel

Madars Razma surprisingly managed to reach the semifinals at the Baltic Sea Darts Open in Kiel last weekend by beating Chris Dobey (6-5), Dave Chisnall (6-5), Joe Cullen (6-5) and Ryan Searle (6-3) in succession.

In the semifinals, Razma went down 7-4 against later winner Rob Cross, but the semifinal spot was enough for 'Razmatazz' to make history.

Razma is the first player from the Nordic & Baltic region (Scandinavian countries and Baltic states) to make the quarterfinals of a Euro Tour tournament more than once, statistics platform TheRedBit180 calculated.

The darter from Latvia already reached the semifinals of the European Darts Matchplay in 2022 and thus repeated that feat at the Baltic Sea Darts Open. Razma is also the only player from that region to make it past the quarterfinals at all. Regionals Jarko Komula (2013), Magnus Caris (2017), Dennis Nilsson (2017), Kim Viljanen (2017) and Darius Labanauskas (2017) all reached the quarterfinals of a Euro Tour tournament once.
