Michael Smith is through to the semi-finals of the 2023
World Grand Prix after cruising past Andrew Gilding in a 3-0 win. He will take on Gerwyn Price tomorrow night for a spot in the final.
Smith saw off Gilding with three 180's and 53% on the finishing doubles and after his woes in previous years in the double start tournament, he could add another big title to his collection.
The other half of the draw will see Chris Dobey face Joe Cullen and Peter Wright against Luke Humphries, with the semi-final line-up to be set shortly.
Both held throw early on with Smith hitting an 84 checkout for 1-1. He broke with a 70 checkout to make it 2-1 and he hit double six for the set.
He went one away from a two set lead with a 104 checkout to go 2-0 up. He sealed the set after initially missing 79, he hit double 10.
He began set three with an 88 checkout on bull. Gilding levelled up for his first leg since the first set and hit a 42 checkout to hold to go one away from his first set.
Smith missed three darts for 2-2, but with Gilding way back, he held it to send it all the way. Smith missed a match dart but returned for the win.
