Mickey Mansell hit the first
nine-darter of the new
Pro Tour season on Monday in Hildesheim. The “Clonoe Cyclone” threw a perfect leg during Players Championship 1.
Mansell’s
nine-darter came in his second round against Carl Sneyd. The Northern Irishman opened the fifth leg with two 180s before sealing it with a 141 checkout.
It proved the highlight of an otherwise very poor match. Although
Mansell won the tie 6-1, the 52-year-old could only manage an average of just 80.10.
Mansell’s perfect leg is the sixth of his PDC career. The former Grand Slam semi-finalist also produced his other five nine-darters at tournaments away from the TV stage.
